2019 "Embrace Change"
Hebrews 1:10-13 (NIV) “He also says, "In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will never end."
Change is inevitable in this life. Seasons, time, nature, people, opportunities, careers, health, faith, thoughts, emotions, lessons, maturity, vision, hope, glory; they all are subject to change. Yet isn’t it ironic though that all things in our world, including us, change? Yet as humans we become so scared and anxious about being presented with change or undergoing a change opportunity. Why? Why do humans who by their nature, who are subject to continual change, fear change?
There may be many valid reasons why we fear change and these reasons may differ from person to person. This one reason though I am sure of. Human beings fear change because we like to hold on to what’s familiar to us. With the familiar, we think we can control what we know, what we can see, what we will do, and what we can expect. In our subconscious minds, we know we can’t control what we don’t know or can’t manipulate. The inability to know, see, do or expect what is to come prompts anxiety in the soul which believes more in its own wisdom and providence than in God’s.
I would endeavor to say nothing created by God cannot undergo some type of change. Yet, God alone is unchanging. He can never change. Why? I believe God is not subject to any force outside of Himself. As humans, we are subject to time, aging, health, other people, situations, circumstances, opportunities, threats, and even weather.
Although change is at times hard for us, we must embrace change. If we are going to walk with God and experience the greatness of all He is and all that He intends for us to receive, we must endure change or risk becoming stagnant, ineffective, and salt-less believers. The only non-changing human is a non-breathing human.
In order to experience greater days in 2019, to manifest the dreams we’ve longed for, to see miracles, and the unfolding of remarkable blessings; we must prepare to experience change in every aspect of our lives. We must surrender and give the Holy Spirit carte-blanche authority to disrupt our plans and bring about any change the Father Will’s for our lives. We have to embrace change at each opportunity.
We have to trust God to lead us and guide us in each step we take. Just as a human being walks, talks, blinks, and breaths, often without forethought on the execution and the outcome of these actions, we must blindly trust God to lead us. We must trust that His Spirit will guide us exactly where we need to be, and guide us into a level of discernment to help us make decisions that will honor Him and in turn bless us.
Always remember, God is unchanging and so is His Word. We can wholly rely on Him and trust He knows what is best for us and what lies ahead of us even when He decides in His wisdom not to show us too far in advance. God is the best source to trust and lean upon when everything in our world is subject to change and alteration. With our God, change is always a good process to go through. His change process will always lead to an enduring blessing for us and the lives we are blessed to touch.
Saints of the Most High, I pray God’s grace and mercy over you this year, and all the strength you need to be a change agent for Christ in this world. Happy New Year! Go forth and achieve the amazing things God has planned for you!
